On 1st and 2nd October 2011, the IBDP students attended a Service programme as part of their CAS activity. This was a very special service as the students volunteered to help the organizers – an NGO, Concern India Foundation.
Concern India Foundation is involved in a football tournament being sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank that is focussed on tapping talent of children from BMC schools and in developing that talent. The event kicked off with a football camp on 1st and 2nd October at the Western Railways Grounds, Mahalaxmi. It was to be held from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm.
Few of our students; Jugal Patel, Jigar Nandwana, Soham Thakur, Rishikesh Nair, Shubham Lad, Neesel Bhoir and Amit Abraham decided to help out Concern India Foundation for registration of participant teams, handing out refreshments, guiding the children to their correct fields etc.
Our students displayed the attributes of IB Learner Profile – Open-minded, Princpled, Caring, Balanced and Reflective. One could easily discern their commitment for the service and respect for others. The organizers were elated with their conduct and wrote a letter of commendation to us which read as under:
“Not only did these kids come out on a Sunday to help Concern India Foundation at our event, they carried out all the duties we gave them, efficiently and with courtesy and were a great support to us, enabling the smooth running of proceedings. We are grateful to them and do look forward to their continued support to us.”
