One of the mantras of PYP Service-Action is to inculcate attitudes of compassion and empathy in the children. As Tahreh Mafi has rightly said, "Reach out and touch another human being not just with my hands but with my heart", the students of PYP 4 invited nine Dharavi School children called "Responsible Champions" to play and interact with them at Kamala Nehru Park, Malabar Hills. RBKites and the Responsible Champions started from school in three school wingers and reached Kamala Nehru park at 10:00 am yesterday and played with them in the Boot house. The PYP 4 children took care of the younger Dharavi kids while they played on the swings, the slides, the jungle gym and the boot. In order that there may not be any stampede while going up and down the Boot's staircase, the students went up in small groups of six. Overall every one enjoyed the visit to the park. While coming back PYP 4 children gave the Dharavi children frooties and snacks.
In the following pictures, PYP4 children are seen taking care of the Dharavi kids. These are the values that IB PYP try to imbibe in these young children to make them "Open-minded, Caring, Balanced" and responsible individuals. The aim is to create "internationally minded people who recognize their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, and help to create a better and more peaceful world".
